Basics of Psychology

Psychology is the scientific study of mind and behaviour as mentioned in link. The question is, How you do a scientific study of human mind? and what is exactly "mind" ?.After doing some "google searches",I am still not able to find any answer. But I have found a new problem known as "Mind-Body" problem. As the link suggessts that there is no clear explanation or definition of word "mind"(untill the time pdf was published). There are some other disciplines like "Psychiatry" ,"Neurology,"Neuroscience" and "Neurosurgery", that study biochemistry and biology of brain to treat mental illness and disorders.I got to know Mr Henrik Ehrsson from the show "Through the wormhole with Morgan Freeman". This neuroscientist is trying to trick human mind into "out-of-body" illusions. You can listen to his "TED TALK" here. This means that mind can be tricked into "out of body illusion" or it can be said that he has created a perceptual illusion of body swapping. I was surprised , by seeing that human mind can be tricked so easily. Now that we have seen experiments in neuroscience. Now we would look at some other experiments related to Psychology that I saw in the other episode of the show "Through the wormhole with Morgan Freeman" . Dr.Kevin rounding of Queen's university Canada conducted an experiment in which participants are given some scrambled words and they have to make some meaningful sentences. They were divided into 2 groups:-

After completing the above task, the participants had to drink an "unsavory" drink (cocktail of orange juice and vinegar) . Dr.Kevin rcorded the amount of "unsavory" drink consumed by each participant.Participants who were given some relegious words in the previous task conumed more "unsavory" drink than the participants who were given only neutral words in the previous task. You can see one of his research papers here. He has done some other experiments as well (including above experiment) and after applying some statististics on the data collected, his team came to conclusion that they have presented the first direct causal evidence in support of the contention that relegion encourages self-control.
